Overview

The Government of West Bengal notified the Industrial and Economic Corridor Policy in October 2023 to position the State as a top industrial destination, and foster balanced, equitable, and sustainable industrial development by encouraging influx of investments and boosting local economy along identified corridors. As part of this policy, the State Government has identified four (4) Industrial and Economic Corridors, which will be developed on a cluster-based approach with a focus on creating robust industrial agglomeration and increasing employment opportunities. WBIDC has been nominated as the nodal agency for implementation of the Industrial and Economic Corridor Policy.

Management Structure

A State Level Empowered Committee (SLEC) under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, including 17 Departmental Secretaries has been formed to oversee policy implementation.

A Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) has been formed under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Commerce & Enterprises
